My Favorite Vacation Spots!

My Favorite Vacation Spots!

If you’re anything like me, you daydream about vacations all year round. I always think about the places I love the most as well as places I’ve never been. These daydreams are awesome, but this summer, make them a reality. According to recent studies, taking a vacation has many health benefits for body and mind. So start planning that amazing vacay! I daydreamed about some of my favorite spots below so you can use them for inspiration!
 Benefits of VACAY-www. JuliaNicholson.com
  • Beach trip: I’m always partial to the beach due to the relaxing vibe and gorgeous sunsets, though I love exploring new cities and places. Destin, Florida is my #1 gulf coast beach town just because I grew up going there and I still feel like they have the prettiest beaches.
  • Girls’ trip: I love hanging out in NYC with my favorite girlfriends. Nothing beats a Broadway show and some shopping in the city that never sleeps!
  • Road trip: Drive down the West coast. If you are going to do California, do it right. Fly into somewhere like San Francisco, California. Experience the city, the Redwoods, and Alcatraz. Then hop in a car and drive dowww.JuliaNicholson.comwn the coast. Stay in a bed and breakfast along the way and spend a few days in Santa Monica/ Los Angeles. You could also do wine country instead!
  • In-touch-with-nature trip: Washington state is mystical and magical. There are lots of outdoors activities for folks looking for something outdoors or a little different than a beach trip.
  • Change-it-up trip: People always think of Colorado during ski season, but it’s gorgeous in the summer months, and you can still see the snow on the mountain tops. There are fantastic outdoor activities all year round. Plus you get fabulous pricing since it’s the “off” season.

Visit cities while they are having festivals. One of my favorite trips was to Chicago, and they happened to be having the Taste of Chicago during our trip. It was amazing to experience all the best food in Chicago in one place with lots of entertainment and excitement.
Always look for local spots. If you are going somewhere new, experience it as the locals do. Of course you want to see a few touristy things, but going to the heart of the city and finding a hidden gem is what gives you a true taste of the city.
Find something you normally do in your hometown that you can do in the city you travel to. Maybe a barre class, dance class (hello Broadway Dance Center), or you can always treat yourself to a spa treatment.
Create a tradition. I always love to buy a Christmas ornament when I’m enjoying a new city. Every year when I put my tree up, I get to experience those memories all over again as I put each ornament up.
